Guy asked me on a second date then changed his mind?

Went on a date with this guy everything seemed to go really well and at the end of the date he asked me on a second date... well here we are 4 days later and he’s like I didn’t mean to lead you on but I don’t think we should keep dating (never had the second date) I don’t feel a connection. Why would he ask me on a second date then change his mind? Literally nothing happened after the date so it’s not like I did something to change his mind... just kind of curious.

It could be that he felt obliged to ask you on a second date then realised he was wasting your time your time and his so thought better of himself? Why lead you on?

Well, I have noticed that sometimes guys do this. They might say something just because they think it is the right thing to say and then not mean it.

Whatever connection he felt when you were on your 1st date just wasn't strong enough. He had time to think it over and is being honest that he doesn't want to lead you on. Just be grateful he is letting you know now and move onto the next guy.

You might have misread his statement.

"Let's go out to dinner Tuesday, I'll pick you up at 6" - clearly wants to go out again.

"We shoud do this again sometime" - really not interested at all.

No he actually said “so do I get a second date?” Lol. Also throughout the night he kept saying because I kept offering to pay “I’ll let you pay on the second date.” Guys are weird lol.
