I would if it seemed wholly genuine, but I'd probably think it's more of a shit test. So even if I did have any *safety* issues then I'd just lie and not mention them or say I dealt with it handily.

  Slang term for "test" women give to men that are essentially meant to test how much "shit" a guy will put up with from a woman or for a woman.
  
  In this case, given girls' track record for shit tests, although a girl would be asking if I got home safely -- which would be nice if 100% convincing in it's sincerity -- if not convincing then it seems more like you're testing me to see if I admit to weakness and fear. And that could be the first step to getting dumped.

  That’s actually the first time I’m hearing of that.. lol Oh... in this case if anyone had asked me that I’d assume it was because they care about me or have some feelings for me. I don't know about it being a shit test, I wasn’t implying that I’m gauging his masculinity by asking if he got home safely. :p

I guess? It kind of annoys me that I ask her to tell me when she gets back and then she forgets and doesn't tell me though. But she always tells me to drive safely and everything.

  No, she’s my crush, actually. I guess right now she’s a female friend, but I don’t really think much about it because she says that a lot. Honestly I’m always searching for some sign that she likes me more than a friend but I’ve never considered that. Recently I said I was going to the airport and she told me to have a safe flight and I had to tell her I was just dropping someone off.

I ask my boyfriend to call or text me when he leaves my place, just to make sure he gets home safe. He doesn't seem to mind and it lets him know I'm concerned about his safety.

  Sure, of course! But only a close friend, otherwise it seems weird.
  If a guy said that to me, I would just think he was concerned for my safety and wanted to make sure I got home okay. Not necessarily that he likes me
