Why does he keep looking at me?

So I’m in a small group at my church. There is this guy there who acts one minute like he dislikes me, then the next minute keeps staring or looking at me. It’s very confusing and leaves me feeling insecure.

The one thing I always notice is when I am sat in the group, wherever he is sat he will keep sneaking glances of me. It’s the frequency of how many times he sneaks glances of me which gets me thinking. He will turn his head quickly to look at me and then quickly look away. Other people have started to notice it too.
He is a joker and likes to be humorous. When he tells a joke the first person he looks at is me. He always tells jokes and likes to be the centre of attention.

When I’m sat in church, he will turn around and look at me. One time I was sat next to him, and he kept looking at me. Sometimes he would sneak glances of me, other times he would full on stare.

It’s starting to annoy me, because I feel like he thinks I’m looking at him when I’m not. I try to look down or elsewhere when he looks at me.

At the beginning of the year he sent me a private message asking if I was free one evening to hang out with him and a few others.

Other times he pretends he hates me or that I don’t exist. I never know where I stand with him. He will sometimes ignore me in a group and walk off without me talking to others.

What is his issue? Why does he keep looking at me?
