He's nice in person but rude over texts, does he like me?

So, I know this guy and I've had crushes on him on and off for a few years

but right now it's more than ever, partially because it seems like he likes me too

we only have a few classes together but we sit next to each other in all of them, and we chose the seats

in class he's really nice and always says something to make me laugh, and we have really intense, long, eye contact

he also laughs at all my jokes, sometimes repeating something funny I say to himself whilst laughing

a few weeks ago we saw each other at the mall (he was with his friends, I was with mine) and he made a point to say hello and have a small conversation with me

the only thing that's off putting is that whenever I text him (usually to ask him a question about school work or something like that) he responds with something snarky or rude, and I don't even think he has my number in his phone

i've never had a serious boyfriend before so I'm pretty clueless about all this

please help?

well if he doesn't have your number he probably doesn't know that he's talking to you lol if a random number keeps texting me I probably wouldn't be the nicest person to them.. make sure he knows that its you texting him first and then ask lol because it makes a big difference whether he knows its you or not
