My boyfriend always breaks up with me during every argument, is this abuse/manipulation?

Its getting a bit old now, and I'm sick and tired of always crying by myself/wasting my energy when he clearly doesn't gaf. I'm 23F and he's 23M, we've been together for a year and a half and everytime I bring up an issue this always happens. I asked him why he always breaks up with me and how I'm supposed to trust him in the future if he keeps breaking up with me/ignoring me, and he always just goes quiet and it goes nowhere. Then he says he's not sure what I want him to say and that he's 'scared' of my reaction... rather than actually talking things out it just gets pushed under the rug and I'm forced to chase him every time and I'm just sick and tired. How do I make him care? He always blames me at the end of an argument and changes the subject etc.

Definitely manipulative. By breaking up with you everytime he knows you're going to chase after him. It's also going to make you too scared to ever bring up problems or have a proper argument because it mind result in him ending things. Honestly give him an ultimatum. Tell him if he ever ends it again then you guys are done for real. And if he does take that chance, let it be over. You'll see him running back to you because you're no longer putting up with his games
