i got this message from a guy on here: I think your favorite thing in life is to get penetrated by an 8 inch penis from a guy that's 6 ft tall and has a six pack. I doubt you'd enjoy an average looking guy that makes a decent salary. Instead you would just settle for him when you couldn't get or hold onto what you wanted.

where the hell did that come from? he never asked me about guys I've dated. the truth is that I've only had one boyfriend. he worked at tgi Friday's for a little while in college, then was unemployed. he was average looking and overweight. but that didn't keep me from loving him.

i think it's really unfair that I'm getting judged and attacked by a stranger just because of my looks. why are some guys on here so bitter (if not a little demented)? I mean really, who sends that message to a stranger?!

For all the guys who are saying she's conceited, she's not (at least from this letter), because ummmm it's kind of obvious the jerk was only giving her a problem because he found her moderately attractive? I feel bad for him, because he's probably had some bad experiences, but it's still very rude and irrational. This is a case of sour grapes. No girls, pretty OR average, will date sour grapes. That's WHY we don't go out with you in the first place. Looks are as important to us as they are to guys (for their girls), but there are some limits. I don't care how "average" you claim to be, being average doesn't necessarily make you nice or fun, trustworthy, or good boyfriend material!

If anything, you think because for some reason (not your own negligence to be sure..) you're disabled in the attractive sense, for some reason you DESERVE our attention? No. That's called affirmative action, and not only is it stupid according to girls' rational self interest, it's wrong (immoral) to try to guilt trip girls into going out with you just because you can't compete. (Compete, I mean on an emotional level. Any guy who thinks BECAUSE he's not naturally a stud muffin, he shouldn't have to try is crazy.) Being attractive (physically and emotionally) is partly natural talent that can't be helped, but more than anything else, it's WORK.

I date guys who are optimistic, cheerful, polite, and have a passion for something other than what people think. I've been rejected too, and it hurt like hell. I will admit, the first time I got rejected, I said some meaner stuff than this guy said (and probably a lot more of it), because I was so angry and hurt. I knew I was being irrational, but I didn't care.

I understand. But just because it's understandable, doesn't mean it should be tolerated. I consider it embarrassing and stupid that I reacted in a certain way when I was rejected. It was insecure, and I would feel sorry for myself, except that it's life and it would be silly to do that. If I won't even tolerate that kind of behavior for myself, the one who's being rejected and feeling like crap, there's no way I'm going to tolerate it in someone else.

This guy is being just as shallow as he's claiming you are, because he's made this judgement based soley on how you look. I've had similar judgements made online based on the fact that I'm female! You have to remember the kind of guy on here is here for advice on girls, so we can assume he's not done too well with them in the past and is bitter/jaded.

Some guys feel they've been victimized by women (rejected, played, led on, et cetera) and they take out their frustrations by lashing out a women like that. Some guys develop all of these weird neuroses when they're depressed and they can't get a girl to like them. I used to be one of them. Someday I'll write an article about it.

In the eyes of these guys, an attractive girl is the carrot dangled in front of them, the bait that they long for (like any red blooded male) but feel will never catch, no matter how much they run. They feel cheated, that game has been rigged against them. They feel that women secretly want all the qualities they don't have (8 inch penis, 6ft tall, six pack abs) but will never admit it. They think they've lost the genetic lottery and are fated to die alone.

All of this is, of course, an illusion but it's truly a horrible feeling.

These guys assert that attractive women have been treated with deference and fawned upon by men since puberty, inflating their ego and giving them a sense of entitlement. We are all truly products of our experiences and nobody has keener awareness of it than these guys. These are the guys that have been pushed around in life. The guys that have been consistently mistreated by other guys and rejected (explicitly or implicitly) by women. They feel weak and inferior and they have a grudge against those they think have had an easy ride in life.

These are guys who have been hurt and they want to take their pain out on you.

I cannot attest to experiences I haven't been there to witness myself, so I will be honest in my response here.

For the at least 1,000 girls I've come in contact with throughout my lifetime and the number of them that were beautiful by societies standards (and were also self aware of this beauty), I could undoubtedly count on my hand.

My point is this: you seem to be part of the select few women out there that haven't dawned an inflated ego over your physical appearance, this unfortunately is not the case with the majority of the populous. Be proud of the fact that you have the kind of heart that doesn't yearn for socially imposed stereotypical attraction. You are rare and unique, and I believe, unlike your peers who are similar in your appearance but who do not share your frame of mind, you will be able to discern true love when you happen upon it, instead of enduring the trial and error they will inevitably experience.

Because some of them ARE. Some girls learn early on to leverage their looks to get whatever they want. They are told from a young age that their pouty face is SO FUCKING CUTE that no one can resist... they have little tantrums and meltdowns as if they're still toddlers even when they're in their 50s. Everything about them -- their needs, actions, thoughts -- center around how pretty they are and what they can get from it. It's their ONE MAJOR commodity... So... that leads to the more shallow "pretty pretty princess" personality that really keeps some guys on a leash but also frustrates and upsets a lot of other guys. It's a confusing, grating sort of energy to be around for an extended period of time.

Basically, it's not YOU he is seeing when he looks at you. It's the collection of past women he's had to deal with AND THEN YOU.

Try to picture it this way... Let's say he's been with five other women in his life. Picture each of them standing in front of you in line at the local supermarket and the guy -- your guy -- is in the cashier booth. He has to keep processing ALL THE STUFF each of these women has placed on the conveyor belt (often more than once) before he processes that you have put something on the conveyor belt for him to process and bag.

My bet is that he's been around some pretty pretty princess who either looks like you or does SOMETHING with him that you're also doing (unaware obviously of the connection), which is triggering him.

It's really the dating experience that guys goes through that causes this. I myself consider one of those guys who really thinks that women are pretty much shallow. It's hard to really know or get to understand somebody without feeling insecure. Most men feel they're not good enough to find a good looking girl to be friends or in a relationship. Sometimes we gotta understand that everyone regardless of looks/race/ethnicity we have feelings too and that we share the same ones throughout life. But most guys who don't have good mindset or self-esteem are often intimidated and overwhelmed by women and pre-judge them based on their looks. It's a habit nonetheless.

I can speak for myself in which all the women I wanted to be with ditched me for another guy. It wasn't for personality, even they admitted that they wanted a boyfriend strictly for looks. :/

For that last bit, it's the interwebs. what do you expect? the anonymity of the internet allows people to communicate and say things like that. not like it would matter to them. it's less likely to happen in real life though lol.

I think this is an unfortunate case of painting an entire group with the same brush, judging the whole instead of the individual. I think it is cruel, and unfair to you that he sent that, especially when he does not know you, but I do not believe we need to hate him for it. It sounds likely that he is angry from having seen pretty girls do as he described, and he likely feels slighted by this, and felt the need to rant, vent, and tell one of the "pretty shallow bitches" exactly what he thought. This is unfortunate, as we cannot judge people by what they appear to be, when we do not know them.
