Why is he only affectionate when he's drinking?

I have been seeing this guy for almost three months. He initiates contact almost all the time, has instructed me to his friends and in general seems to like me. Even tho he hugs, kisses or says sweet things only when he's drinking. I'm confused a little, could he be a little shy or just not that into me?

I use to do the same thing I was shy and felt more at eas it also put me in a more passionate and deeper feeling mode that I love feeling but the I realized the drinking part was really taking away from what I'm trying to feel

After few drinks is he drunk. If drinking your butt pretty isn't really necessary, it's maybe an addiction or some inhibition to show you his affection.

Could be either shy or not into you. He could also be scared of rejection or you intimidate him and needs a bit of Dutch courage 🍻 to do anything. imho
