Personally agreeing with reptocarl. Either try to lighten her mood if it's a phase of sadness or encourage seeking professional help if we are talking depression. (under the condition that we are talking about a relationship in which love is a strong factor, as for weaker or newer relationships the topic depression can simply be too much to handle)

Why would I end it? If she's my girlfriend then it's my duty to stand with her in her bad time and help her if I could.

Honestly, a relationship is a commitment. I've know my current girlfriend for 12 years and we've gone through a hell of a lot together. Depression was only 1 of the many things I've delt with and honestly I could never leave her side. We ended up going to get help, and there was a lot of stigmas we needed to work out. A lot of people quit because it is very difficult, and that's ok. You need to do what is right for you. But to me, she is my best friend, confidant and greatest strength and inwouldndo anything for her. There is nothing wrong with feeling down or needing help. The fact that she was honest enough with me and brave enough to ask for help was more than enough reason. Had it been a friend who was depressed I'd have been there to help. But my girlfriend is more than just a friend, and my relationship with her means more to me than anything else in the world. Plus I know she would have done the same for me.

I'd probably try to help. Ask to talk with her about it. I probably would not end the relationship, unless her depression got so severe that I I obviously can't help, and my presence may be making it worse. Otherwise though depression should be a reason to stay and help, not to leave.

I would try to help her. I did have a girlfriend who fell into depression once though, but there was a lot of "shunning" on her part and she didn't want me trying to help, or to be in a relationship. So in that case I had to walk from it.

Keep her close and support her recovery leaving her in her darkest hour would be most cruel and if you two are really in love it wouldn't be an option to think about anyways it never would cross your mind to leave that person

I'd end it unless I'd been with her for a while already. The thing is if she started to mentally drain me and it wasn't working out I'd end it. If you're depressed, then you shouldn't be dating.

Never end it on those grounds. Try to tet uer to get help, can't force her, she has to want help

Definitely end it, I'm with one now. She's been like this for 5 years. Some people are just like this and nothing will ever break the cycle.

Either way no I wouldn’t automatically dump her. If she’s just blue like we all get from time to time I’d try to get her active and get an ice cream but if it’s the medical condition I’d do everything I could to get her professional help
