Why do guys prefer quantity over quality reguarding girls?

Guys have a biological imperative to "spread our seed." This is pretty common among males of most species, and species who lacked this trait tended to die out or be taken over by species who had it. You must remember that humans have been around for many hundreds of thousands of years (many millions of you count pre-human species that we evolved from), and birth control has only existed for about 60 years, so our instincts don't take birth control - or anything about modern society - into account.

For 99.9% of human existence, sex was expected to result in pregnancy sooner or later (usually sooner), and given how short the average life span was, because of deaths from disease, hunting, war, famine, exposure to elements, etc., having sex and having children at very young ages was the norm, and men having sex with as many women as possible was also the norm - it helped widen the gene pool and make it less likely that one disease or genetic defect would wipe out ALL of his offspring.

It takes over 1000 generations (or, approximately 20,000 years for humans) before such base instincts adjust to new situations, so our instincts still reflect human existence from 5,000, 10,000, and 20,000 years ago.

The very same situations are what caused women to desire relationships and to be choosy about who she picked to father her children, and to care for him and motivate him to provide for and protect those children: because if she chose poorly, her children were much less likely to survive. They might starve, or get eaten by a large animal, or be killed or stolen by a rival tribe.

Just because we have a modern society with computers and satellite communication and so on doesn't mean we're above our instincts - our instincts affect us all every day whether we realize it or not.

Because men are biologically hardwired to have as many partners as possible. Men can, in theory, sire multiple children per day. Women can bear children every 9 months. So men optimize their chance of passing on their genetics by constantly going through women. Women on the other hand, prefer to have a stable mate since pregnancy is a considerable investment of time. Now, in becoming civilized, mankind repressed these animal instincts to build a society, but as that society breaks down we return to acting like animals.

Where that is true it's usually because they just want sex and don't want to have to wait a month or two for that to happen. It's like asking why people go to McDonald's to eat when they could go to a gourmet restaurant. Sometimes you just want to eat with no fuss and no delay.

Some might argue they get quantity of quality. All I know is the women mostly chose me and who am I to argue with them. I was not going to turn down a woman based on being picky. What would happen if that average to below turned out to be the best thing that ever happened?
