Why do men say women aren't funny?

Well for a start its not 'men' its 'people'.

PEOPLE say that.

PEOPLE say that because as a GENERALISATION women aren't funny.

Does this mean there are no funny women?

No.

Thats not what words mean.

A much more interesting question would be:

Why aren't women funny?

To which i would suggest that it is because they dont need to be, that is not how women increase their social standing, they do that either through mating (oh dear, the feminazis aren't going to like that) or simply through association, who do you know, what do you know about who?

Futhermore being funny requires risk taking, the most feared type of risk taking for females; the fear of social rejection. If you make fun of something or someone there there is an inherent risk that what you said will not be well recieved and there can be serious consequences if you get it really badly wrong and bare in mind that you can't please everyone, literally every time you say anything some people will agree and others will disagree.

So its reasonable to say that its not even risk, there IS going to be a standing adjustment and its impossible to be certain how your comments will be recieved.

So why take that chance at all?

Especially when there are other avenues available, like putting on make up and looking pretty etc.

This will get you noticed and alter your social standing and while there is risk and things can go wrong unless you are actually going out with black face you are unlikely to be branded a racist as a result of your warpaint.

It's because women just don't have to try as hard to be interesting or funny. There are still interesting and funny women but there are just less. Like most of the women who complain about how guys are boring on dating apps are the most boring people you'll ever meet, they just want to be entertained but they don't contribute anything back.

Guys need to stand out more distinguish themselves from others because we don't get attention for having a vagina. There are some decent female comedians but if you compare it to guys it's nothing. But if a girl is interesting it's a really nice experience.

Some men may not find women funny because they don't relate to the jokes. I remember having to watch a sarah millican video for gender in eng lang and the girls were laughing as she discussed the different ways of putting on a bra and the lads looked utterly bored and said it just wasn't funny to them at all.

If you're funny, if you can make people laugh, then nobody can deny that you're funny. If people don't laugh at you you're not funny. That's all.

If you want to prove to a man that women aren't funny, make him laugh. If you can't he's probably right.

There are a few female comedians I consider to be quite funny, but they're not as funny as the men.

Then there are female "comedians" like Amy Schumer who get rated badly and they blame misogyny when really, it's just because they're not funny.

I think men are better at self depreciating humor. And that's my favorite sort of humor. It could be because when men do it, I'm happy to laugh at them. But when women do it, my first instinct is to feel bad for them. Even if it's funny, that initial gut reaction makes it hard to fully laugh. And I realize that's a 'me' problem, but as the target of entertainment I have that right.

But, to be fair, I think if a woman was a little more confident, the self depreciating humor wouldn't come off as depressing. But it's hard for a girl to pull off a "cocky" act convincingly thay doesn't seem like she's just trying to be a guy.

Women who are funny smart creative exist. But are really rare. And when you find them they are even better than men. Most women dont care really to work on their selves. Look at music industry for example its really rare to find a woman who write lyrics on her own or produce her songs. all want just to sing and look sexy. Because women joke about periods and queefing and just nasty stuff. They also joke about nasty stuff with men like cheating on their bfs and glorifying being whores. That stuff is just not funny at all. Especially because they aren't really even joking. When some netflix special girl says "so i woke up next to some man i never met and damn he was hot you won't believe what happened next..." its like a real fucking story. When a man says "i prefer to date toothless meth addicts so when i punch her she dont got any more teeths to lose" its an obvious joke because men are not going around taking toothless meth addicts out to restaurants. Women can be funny, however most women are a little less risky and dark with their humour which most men seem to like. In the case of female comedians most of them talk about the issues of being a woman and men can not relate to this. Male comics tend to be more observational and talk about every day things which both sexes relate to.

That is not true... Women are very funny. Many women on old tv shows are great. But id say in modern times women have become more confident and bolder with their comedy. Because most women barely try and be funny. Some are, but if you see a group of male friends they're always trying to make each other laugh. Women get giggly and laugh at non-jokes with each other but mostly they just chat and gossip.
Maybe that's sexist but in my experience that's absolutely accurate.

By-and-large, women just generally aren't as funny as men. Women definitely have funny moments, but they generally lack the same degree of caustic gravel that men have. It probably comes from the kinds of experiences that men and women have through out life. I mean that like, as a whole population. Humor does come from a dark place. And women may go through things, but they tend to not have to work as hard to actually be funny to get the type of attention they hope for or want. Men have to actually be funny and work hard to get attention, smiles, and benign/positive laughs.

Female comedy mainly revolves around vaginas, bad sex, periods etc. not funny. There are some normal everyday women that are funny, not in a comedian sense, they just have brash vibrant personalities, more akin to men that I find funny I suppose.

Because the majority female comedians either say “orange man bad” in many different ways within a span of thirty minutes to an hour (Samantha Bee for example) or make jokes that only women can relate to (Amy Schumer for instance).
