My casual guy saw I started improving my looks and he got really aggressive about it and hasn't spoke to me in 5 days now why?

Well when you say casual I assume you mean fuck buddies in which case it's simple. He doesn't want you finding someone else. From his reaction this is unlikely due to him being in love or wanting something more with you but rather casual human narcissism I'm him wanting to leave you and not you leave him. Well in every friends with benefits relationship there are only three possible outcomes.
1. The couple decide to become monogamous, or at least more serious and in a less tenuous relationship.
2. One party finds someone better, or just generally decides to move on with their life. Or
3. One party dies.
Now as how you've described it 2 seems the likely ending to your twos relationship as 3 is relatively unlikely simply due to human mortality rates and the age you are entered under and 1 seems highly unlikely and highly inadvisable considering he stopped talking to you when you tried to improve yourself. Now as we know how your relationships likely gonna end and it is likely that you both know either consciously or subconsciously we can work backwards to figure out your "casuals" actions.

Now to end a relationship in this fashion we require someone to end it and someone to have it ended upon. Now obviously it is usually better to do the ending if for no other reason than to have control over the situation as well as you avoid some negative feelings and as such when you make improvements you make it more likely to attract a better long term prospect sooner than he currently is and so by reacting negatively it seems likely that he is attempting to 'push you back into the box' so to speak. So that down the line he can do the leaving and prevent any feelings of inadequacy.
