Because there are greater chances of making an impression via snapchat. For eg, if we add each other, we'll see each other's stories. We'll know more about each other. With the phone number, you may or may not reply or pick up and we don't want to be seen as pushy or desperate.

Its just easier for him to see you. And it can be fun. He might ask for pics or even just see what you do on social media... I dont have one so I just use the old fashion text message and call system.
