Why are guys so afraid to talk to pretty girls?

A few of my closest friends are models. Plenty of guys stare at them, but very few actually talk to them. Most of the time, guys come to me and ask me questions about my friends and try to get their numbers from me.

What's so scary about asking out a beautiful girl? In my experience, my model friends are just as nice, friendly, and receptive to male attention as my average looking friends.

All of them know that they're good looking and can get more guys than the average girl, but as long as the guy isn't a total creep and is respectful, they are at least willing to talk to him. None of them are so shallow that they'll turn down a guy simply based on appearances.

Most guys have been rejected many times and have been played with to the point of frustration. Asking out a girl is tough because getting rejected sucks. However, what hurts more is the game girls play. I agree "they are at least willing to talk to him", they are also willing to give him their number. I found that 95% of girls will give me their number if I asked, however only a few will actually talk to me and hang out. So basically I get my hopes up and when she "text messages me" what she actually feels it is quite hurtful.

I guess this answer could be answered with another question "Why can't girls ask out their crush?", because it is hard to ask out anyone, either if they were gorgeous or average... if you are attracted to the girl or guy than asking them out won't be easy.

YOU THINK they are not shallow. Oh they are, but why? They're hit on by by guys regularly imo, so we need some sort of superpower (or huge wallet) to impress those kind of girls.

Besides the fear of rejection, there's the issue of whether or not all I do is worth it; if the girl is worth such a fight. Some people use only their looks to go forward and forget to pick up important stuff on the way.

This is all MY impression, basically I'm trying to say that it cannot be true but I believe it to be unless proven otherwise.

As a girl who is constantly hit on I have to say that unfortunately the guys who do have the guts are usually the ones who are the drunkest, the cockiest or the ones who are out to pull anyone(you see them start talking to hot chicks then slowly go to cute then average and so on until he gets any girl)

hey ladies can start conversations too. I asked my guy out because he didn't have the guts to ask me.

I remember thinking that:

1> There's no way a girl THAT good looking DOESN'T have a boyfriend already.

2> Asking a few of them out only to find out that they DID have a boyfriend.

3> Reviewing the first two answers on here and figuring that EVERY good looking girl DID have a boyfriend.

OR

4> Like in the movie 'She's out of my league', I am not good enough for a girl that good looking. She may go out with me a few times, but the first studmuffin that comes along - she'll dump me for him.

I don't know what's up with that. I mean, do these same guys go to restaurants and try and order the worst thing on the menu? After all, if you're gonna ask a woman out you always take the risk of being turned down, so would anyone actually prefer being turned down by an ugly girl? Argh, maybe youth really is wasted on the young.

There's a perception that a pretty girl has heard every come-on. So it's harder to come up with something to say that you think would work. Also we think they get hit on a lot, have lofty standards, or are jaded/rude... so the expectations of being rejected are much higher. I think when every guy looks at a girl they weigh her attractiveness and the probability of success asking her out.

Guy figures a hot girl is being approached by better looking guys than him all the time, so what's the point. All that does is make it easier for the guys who know that that isn't necessarily true, which is how some ugly-average dudes land smoking hot girls.

Well I'm not really into relationships right now but I would definitely talk to a pretty girl and be friends with her. In fact I have many female friends I consider to be pretty. Most men don't realize that if a guy is super confident and has a good sense of humor he can get by even with pretty girls. I have seen relationships where the guy looks average and the girl is really pretty and vice versa.

I seriously doubt it. For pretty much everyone, if there's no attraction, then it's not going anywhere, simple as that. Given that they have a choice of much better looking guys than average, the average guy has basically no chance unless he's outstanding otherwise. That's what they call dating in your own league.

Some of my model friends have dated some pretty ugly guys, and none of those guys were rich or well hung (from what they told me).

Guys put women they find more attractive on a pedistal. They belive just about everything she does is perfect but if she rejects them then they feel like they are sh*t. Eventualy they move on but a lot of guys don't want to take the chance because it would crush them if they got rejected.

I lol'ed. Everyone would turn down someone if they are hideous. It's human nature.
