A date is a date. It doesn't matter how it's said. You must talk to him and ask him is he asking you out on a date. Now the word sounds too taboo. The first one sounds like a friendly outing. So does the 2nd. But the 2nd is more direct. And can be made out to be a date. You have to be direct. If you want a date, just tell the person. If not, made it clear that it would be a friendly outing and nothing romance. Be honest and direct but ask and not assume.

What sounds better to you?
1. Do you want to go to dinner?
2. I'm taking you to dinner.
3. I'm going to get dinner. I would very much like it if you joined me.
The differences in those three statements is their level of maturity and self-confidence.
the second one sounds like a date. "Wanna get food," is something you say to someone you aren't trying to impress.

Well , wanna get food is something I’d say if I’m not nervous or if I’m already friend with her. If I don’t know her too well, I will probably say the second. Only because I’m not comfortable yet
