You can't ask or talk about something like that without it being awkward. Just quietly make your bets and call it a day. Don't bring it up unless he decides to... for some weird reason... I don't know why that conversation would come up with you, but it might. Don't bring up your suspicions with other people either because it might get back to him.

I'm sort of at that point with a friend who has straight up never expressed interest in women. He's a self admitted virgin, but I think he might be gay. One of my other friends told him that I was wondering if he was gay and he flipped out at me (I really didn't appreciate my other friend doing that). He insists he isn't gay. And I want to be clear that I wouldn't care if he was. I was just wondering because it was 2018 and I want the guy to be happy. I'm not really convinced, but what I think doesn't matter. If he says he isn't gay then he isn't gay as far as I'm concerned.
