Why would a guy ask if your a virgin before the first date?

So I'm going a date with a guy in a few days. The thing is he asked me if I was a virgin is that a weird thing for him to ask?

A man wants to know if he can sleep with you. Dates are transactional experiences. Food and entertainment (women) for Sex (men). If you are a virgin he can't have sex with you or you will get too attached.
