Why is my guy friend suddenly acting so distant?

One day he is telling me that he misses me a lot and from almost talking to me everyday.. now whenever I text him, he does reply but his replies are really cold or it feels like he is just replying so that he won’t come as a rude person.. we have been really good friends for a year now. Suddenly he is acting weird. Why do guys suddenly act so distant?

This happened to me. How was he acting before? My best guy friend had a crush on me, realized it wasn't going to happen and got hurt then distanced himself from me, he then came back into my life and we tried to date, didn't work out and ruined our friendship. If you're not interested, give him some space then reach out again.

He was fine but everything is different since he invited me to his birthday party and ignored me completely.
He is acting weird and distant..
He came to pick me up and told me that he was really excited to meet me.. then ignored me
He watches my gram stories the second I post them but won’t text me..

That's some weird behaviour. If he's acting weird you deserve better than that. Sometimes we put people on high pedestals that don't deserve it. if you care about your friendship then call him out but don't stand for this type of behaviour.

I don't know I had a guy friend do the same we used to face time everyday we would text loads then one day he just stopped... He said he missed me but he wanted to get back to things he enjoyed... so we like never talk anymore... I told him I was getting a boyfriend and he like panicked and started messaging me loads and I could tell he was trying to act and say stuff that he used to say but I wasn't interested even though I didn't actually have a boyfriend... I don't know he tells me not to like him and don't fall in love but he acts very weird... but since then I have pulled away more and don't message him anymore unless he messages me...

I wasn’t needy or anything.. I asked him if he is fine.. he said he is okay!
I don’t understand why guys do that!

It is a mindgame to make you chase. You might've been putting more effort than he was so he just made you chase him more

He probably had a thing for you, but was afraid to tell you. Then you probably said or did something that made him feel like he didn't have a chance, so now he is "no friend zoning" you.

He wasn't your friend, he wanted to be with you. When that falls through for whatever reason, he will create distance because it will hurt him to be around you if he can't have you.

If you recently started dating someone, or said something to put him off, then that would be my guess as to the reason.

Friendship in adulthood is complex. He very likely developed feelings for you and is trying to get over them to save your friendship. If I may be so bold, perhaos just say I think you are going through some stuff and I am going to respect your space, but I am always here, without implying or questioning. In almost all situations of a developed distance, this is your best course of action. Hell come around. Imagine how hard it would be to hide that from you for fear of losing a friend.
