Should I ask why he hasn’t responded back?

I texted my boyfriend at 5pm yesterday and he didn’t text me back until the other day at 12pm. Should I ask why he hasn’t replied or would that make me sound clingy. If I don’t ask he might do it even more which I don’t like. If I don’t address it.

If it's only happened once, I wouldn't bother asking him. But if he texts you back at 12pm on a regular basis, or if it starts happening often, then I'd ask him why.
