Why am I always the one reaching out?

Every other day I text this guy how his day is going and we’ll have a small conversation but after that he never texts me... I’m always the one texting first it’s never him starting the conversation... but he does respond and ask about my day

Because you never allow him the opportunity to be the first one to initiate the correspondence. Stop messaging him, and if he never messages back then you know he was not worth it to begin with. If he does then there may be hope yet.
