Why would a guy follow me on Instagram for 22 hours and then block me?

Question

This guy is my ex, we been broken up for 2years. He has blocked me on messenger too but not Facebook. I did call him by accident and hung up and then removed his number. After that he followed me on Instagram and then blocked!!! Why? I know he hates me, he thinks I try to break up his relationship with another woman that he was seeing when seeing me. Called me names and all. Why would he do that?
