A girl needs to make an emotional connection before she'll strip and do the deed. A guy will do any girl that is reasonably good looking and wants him. The emotional connection is made when they join in copulation.

Let’s dispatch the elephant in the room first… sex. Nothing makes me feel closer to my partner than sex. I think it’s true for most men who have a partner. (It seems to me—just my opinion/observation—that that’s different for women; sex is more of an expression of existing closeness.)

But if you mean other than that, like before we hopped in bed, then having an intuitive understanding of one another, shared experiences, going through adversity together, accomplishing something together, sharing common goals, and/or having an easy rapport through humor or a common aesthetic sense.
