When you’re on a date, why would a guy suddenly leave?

I met this guy on a dating app in November and we were going to meet up, but he went out of town. So we texted almost everyday and had our first date on FaceTime. He’s back in town now and we had another date two nights ago. We had dinner and watched a movie at my place. After the movie, we started making out and touching. Then he stopped, apologized for going “too” far, and left. He told me that he’ll text me when he gets home, but that was 2 days ago. I’m not sure if I did something wrong.
