The men who bring up the fact that men also get raped, during a conversation about the rates of sexual abuse women face, don't actually care about male victims. They are bringing up male sexual abuse to distract and deflect from the fact that the majority of sexual abuse victims are women and girls, and the majority of sexual offenders are male. You can tell, because they don't actually expect the conversation to go anywhere after that. It's used a 'gotcha' moment to try and shut down what women are saying, which is that we live in a society where sexual abuse towards women and girls is rampant.
I think men become uncomfortable with the knowledge that most rapists are men, and they feel like people are saying therefore most men are rapists, which isn't true. But they get defensive and react in poor taste.
Do men get raped and sexually abused? Yes. Can women be the abusers? Yes. Is this abuse extremely under reported and often not taken seriously? Absolutely. Hell, I was sexually abused by a woman and never reported it, I know first hand that male sexual abuse happens and is largely ignored. But I also know derailing a conversation about the sexual abuse women and girls face to talk about male sexual abuse does nothing. They are both important conversations that need to be had, but we can't do that if there's this constant fight to be heard over each other.
Agree.
Very nice comments. Thank you.
Also, I'm so sorry for what happened to you...
I was raped by two Roman Catholic priests when I was ten and a third when I was eleven. Men do most of the raping and most men target women. But occasionally a woman does manage to rape a man for whatever reasons. Most men would not complain too loudly because of social pressure.
Of course, it happens. But it's far less common.
Who gives a shit if its "far less common?" Fact of the matter is it still happens and any claim of rape should be investigated with the utmost seriousness, whether its happens to a woman or man.
To add, one thing women really, REALLY shouldn't be doing is making false accusations of rape. I've never once heard of a guy who lied about it. But women, many times have I seen it and for every lie that was made, an innocent guy had their life destroyed. Not only that, you're wasting the time of police officers and anyone involved in courtrooms when they can be more focused on actual predators and other criminals.
The fact that women rarely ever go to jail for these lies is astonishing. It should be an equal sentence to whatever the accused would have gotten.
@SlightlyEccentric They rarely lie. The fact that so many rapists would never be confronted, sued nor put in jail and how small their sentence here is astonishing.
It also has to do with physical strength. Men are more capable of doing that. What women can attack and make it to keep a men restrained easily to do so? Men are physically so much stronger and more predators. Also women can have it much easier than men i guess?
Men don't tend to admit being raped, because it's often being downplayed in society. There's even cases where it's being made fun of. Those statistics don't tell the truth, but there are also loads of women, who haven't reported their rape.
Which truth?
The truthful amount of rape victims in either men or women.
There's also loads of girls reporting fake rapes. Last time I saw a girl rape a guy he was a journalist at a protest, she laughed at him for saying she just raped him, he said he wouldn't tell the police, that would make him less of a man
@Unbeatable Not true. Men are far more likely to be raped than to be falsely accused of rape.
Where's your proof? At least half of the rape reports I've seen were provably false upon actually digging but most people dont dig they take the word of a bitch
You're not getting it. Most false rape allegations are never proven to be faked.
Have you never read the bible. I guess you haven't, what could you possibly learn from the most popular book of virtues in the world... but in there, Joseph was accused of raping a girl FOR REFUSING her. And got put in jail with no investigation
@Unbeatable The Bible... What a reference! I'm talking bout actual facts...
Facts aren't pertinent to human behavior

Well I think that's a gross generalization, but in the united states rape against men numbers are very high (I believe on par if not exceeding those of female) largely due to the amount of sexual assault that occurs to incarcerated individuals which the US has very high numbers of. It also doesn't help that while most people generally disapprove of 'rape jokes' these jokes are often given a pass if they affect men, such as the all to common catholic priest jokes or cartoons and media often making jokes alluding to male on male prison rape.
Stats aren't gross. Its science.
I'm wasn't refering to the stats but rather your statement that "men always complain about rape being considered as mainly a crime against women?". While I've heard/seen few people online attempt to raise awareness regarding male sexual assault and its prevelance/ seriousness I dont think I've ever heard anyone, online or in person, complain about it being only considered towards women. Perhaps I dont frequent the same circles, but that statement reaks of hyperbole and seems irresponsible.
Do some research then
That's not a response, or at least not one that has any sort of meaning. I'm sure there are people like the ones you described but based off having not found any and you not having provided any, it seems highly unlikely that such sentiments they are mainstream or even semi popular hence my problem with you infering that "men are always complaining...". I will also note that it appears like you are avoiding the topic of rape against men like the plague in the comments which make me assume you aren't actually here for any sort of answers but rather to be clapped on the back for "calling out men" on our behaviour.
The rape affects men too defense is so common...
Your assuming something common is bad. Most common things/ ideas are also the most important. Although I wasn't intending it as a defence but rather as an observation/ insight into your mindset when you posted this question. While you are perfectly in your rights to make the judgement that you seem to have made, that men try to make themselves out to be main victims of rape, I dont see how such a judgement helps anyone or even allows for progress as each side try's to make themselves the victim. The vast majority of people agree that sexual assault is wrong and that steps should be taken to lessen its prevalence just because someone people are trying to draw attention to another facet of the issue (such as prison rape) doesn't mean that people are all of a sudden cool with women being assaulted in day to day life. The best example I can think of is someone raising money to protect an endangered species getting mad that someone down the block is raising money to protect a different endangered species.
But what about graphs that show MEN with a big fancy purple bar. When do WE get our big bars. You feminists clearly don't care about us at all because you only represent WOMEN with nice graphs. So much for equality when men's lack of nice data charts are callously ignored by the dirty feminists.
I don't know why guys always want to talk about male rape when female rape is brought up. Females being raped obviously happens WAY more and in uncomfortable numbers. That's why we're scared to walk alone at night.
Maybe thinking men get raped too makes them feel less like rapists. I would be ashamed of my gender too if we were known for being the majority of rapists.
Sure, it makes sense.
I don't get the question. In what way are men complaining about it?
I mean it's pretty obvious that rape mostly affects women because it's way harder to do it to a man
You should go look at the stats for victims of violence, murder, homelessness, workplace deaths, suicide and ask your self why women complain about men having it easier.
Many seem to think it's not OK since men are victims too.
Not the point
Because by this logic all crime is mainly if u are just comparing the stats of who commit crime the issue is when people make claims that all males are criminals when that claim is clearly false
Hmmm... Most rapes are committed by men.
And never said that
Most people don't
Do you actually have something interesting to add?
It's simply not as common.
It's rare so... Women are the main victims. That's it.
I didn't
Male rape is under reported and legally women can't rape men but I'd you apply the same rules equally towards women male rape statistics would increase drastically.
Female rape is largely underreported too.
Yeah but male rape isn't basically at all much like male domestic abuse.
And female domestic abuse.
I hear of men complaining:
1. That male rape is not taken seriously if reported.
2. If being framed for rape, especially if they're dating a woman and the date doesn't go as well as expected.
Statistically, rape is one of the most underreported crime. Men being falsely accused of rape is so rare, they even are more likely to be raped than falsely accused.
The problem is exactly that chart... male rape is generally ignored and therefore not counted or seen as a crime and therefore people like you believe it is only a female sided problem.
Just like many female victims never talk about it either.
SOME women don’t come forward... MOST men don’t.
Most women don’t come forward.
😂 haha ok.
You realize that the bureau of justice statistics (the gold star in crime stats shows that rape occurs less 1/1000 people... The bullshit Mary cost one in for statistic which she created in 1983 for a ms magazine article to push agenda doesn’t even fucking compute mathematically and absolutely obliterate your concept of most women not coming forward the problem we have is that too many women come forward with bullshit and then the few that are actually having things happen get overlooked.
The male rape statistic only considers male victims of males and if they were to actually define female on male rape they would get numbers that would easily be close to or equal to the female victim statistic of 1/000
*Mary Koss
No one is complaining honey. And no, the 'all men are racist' shtick is really lame. And it's a giant lie.
Bla bla bla
How intelligent. And describes your entire personna... bla bla bla. LOL Loser.
Same reason why women always complain about rape unaddressed being considered a really common crime against men.
Women don't complain about this.
Then men don't complain about this.
Well, they do.
Then women also do
Those statistics do not paint an accurate picture because they are based only on reported rapes. Most cases of males being raped, including mine, are never reported.
Which is a shame
This is what happens when you live in a patriarchal society
Bullshit. This is what happens when people, both men and women, care more about women's issues than men's issues, and YOU and your question here, and your dismissive response to me, are perfect examples of that. It's called gynocentrism, not patriarchy.
Stats.
What?
Because it pretty much is. Of course there are cases for men to but majority of rape cases are of women in certain countries.
Rape of men over 18 is very rare outside of prisons and jails.
Agree
Maybe because they feel that no one takes it seriously if a man is raped.
Most of the guys complaining about this issue are simply misogynists who use this as a trick to force women to shut up.
Because it is, and your graft proves it.
Sure it is. But why do they complain about it?
I've never heard of any guy complaining about it.
I did
Well Ok.
Well it explains
Men are rapists
I didn't say that
Why not?
Most rapists are men.
I know
Not true... “most rapist (who are counted) are men”.
@Property_Of_Jocker and if you say so but you haven't met most men in the world, you're lying
@Aiko_E_Lara That's exactly why statistics are made for.
The statistics made are the ones "proven" and while there had been cases of false rape accuse, they're also the proven ones. And cases of falsely accused being proven happens years after. There had been many cases where men spend 10-30 or even more years in prison because of false accusation. Some of them may not have been proven yet.
No, The statistics show are the ones collected, it doesn’t discount the 40% that turn out false, and it never includes male victims of women because it isn’t seen as a crime in most cases so the male stats are the male on male ones only.
@LogicBomber 40%? Where does it come from?
This isn't about @LogicBomber 's claims but here is just something to debunk your whole agenda https://youtu.be/CIf7w9f202c
Cuz mostly it IS!
Why complaining about it then?
