How do I ask my longterm guy friend who I've liked for six year if he likes me, wants to sleep with me, or if he just get flirty when he drinks?

I've known my friend since we were sophomores back in high school and I've liked him since then. Junior year my friend told him I liked him and he told me he didn't feel the same. We stayed friends and it was great then he suddenly moved away. When he came back we reconnected and from body language it seemed like he was flirting with me, but I figured it was just my imagination. We talked all the time and hungout two or three times. He made me feel special during a time in my life where no one paid me any attention and that definitely helped rekindle those old feelings. He tried to sleep with me, but I was too nervous and thought he had a girlfriend so we ended up cuddling in the back seat of his car and then he drove me home. Our track record usuallu goes as follows he usually disappears, messages me, we get back in touch, and then he disappears again. The past six months tho we've kept in content and hung out a lot more than ever before. He let me stay at his place a few times and we've slept in the same bed and cuddled but nothing more than that. He even was going to let me live with him when I almost homeless at one point after a bad house fire and some family conflict. Almost ever time I've come over he's made me food, laid on me or cuddled me, and kept me laughing with his goofy dancing and singing. But almost every time we've hung out he's drank and it's not always just us. He includes me on plans he already made with his friends. I just don't know what to think anymore. I really want to come clean and tell him everything and get answers but I'm scared of him pulling away and becoming distant or just not talking to me at all. Please help
