I'd say if they prove that, let him choose between 3000 times the sentence for attempted murder, death, or plead insanity and get forced psyciatric help until the doctors feel he has improved, then take away his access to weapons and closely monitor him with parole/probation for 5-10 years.

But someone who actually has a plan and a stockpile of weapons is genuinely dangerous and unstable.

3000 counts of attempted murder, or wave your right to privacy and self defense and get help.

This sort of thing is usually brought on my a lot of other people ganging up and being terrible to the person, but that doesn't justify trying to kill 3,000 people.

I'd have more simpathy if he had a list of names of people who bullied him. We have all considered using violence against people who have done us wrong, but even then actually making plans to murder people is wrong, illegal, and extremely concerning.

Anyone who is willing to take their feelings out on an innocent stranger is absolutely a dangerous person who needs to be sepersted from society. (At least until they get some help and become more stable)

I wouldn´t put him into prison but make him visit a psychiatry because what incels like him need is therapy. The problem he and others like him is that they have a distorted view on the world which isn´t healed in prison. Put in prison isn´t the solution because there will be more guys in the future that have the same view on the world. You want put them into prison as well. Ok put like 100-300 guys because there are incels, that´s not going to solve the problem. It´s like a parent who´s daughter is social media addicted that´s why he/she destroyed the daughter´s electronic devices so she´s cut off them. That´s not helpful because it´s working on the root of the problem.
Guys like him need help. Put him in a male-only self help group of a psychiatry because he has obviously a low self-confidence and has other pschological problems that need to be solved that can´t be solved in prison.

For actively plotting a mass killing, I would put life, with a chance of release if he undergoes some serious therapy. You could not trust him around the general population as he is, as his behavior and thought processes are dangerous and irrational.

If prosecution can get by with a conspiracy to commit murder charge (or several), he could feasibly face the death penalty, although the state of Ohio has suspended capitol punishment until they find an alternative to lethal injection, so that's not likely.

Depending on how planned out his scheme really was, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets an extremely long sentence that would effectively equate to life in prison.

I guess it depends on the sophistication of the plot, how close he was to pulling it off, etc.; because attempted murder is graded on a scale, the same way actual murder is. He should definitely be in a mental hospital though
