In New York City we already had a store keeper that stabbed a robber to death charged with murder until the public outcry got too great, a Marine Corps veteran that killed somebody in the subway while he was threatening other passengers, and noemw we have this guy. I think Abbot and DeSantis are doing the right thing. Ship them all to NYC by the busloads. I already talked to Gov Abbott and told him i would be glad to drive a busload up here if the needed an additional driver. Mayor Adams wants to pay people a stipend to put them up in their homes because the towns surrounding NYC are rejecting them and sending them back. It is easy to be a sanctuary city when you are 2000 miles away from the border but when it ends up on your doorstep it is another matter unless you are Mathas Vineyard and get get the national guard to get rid if them for you. The right to keep and bear arms predates the Constitution, in fact to the Glorious Revolution's 1689 Bill of Rights, if not earlier. It is part of what Blackstone called the "natural right of resistance and self-preservation" against tyranny and criminals.

The Founders fully understood this, which is why they spoke of the "right of the people" in 2A. The right existed before the Constitution and is not contingent upon the positive restatement. In fact, at its core all legitimate government is based upon a collective defense of those same people.

I agree with that. Gotta wonder though... this is what happens to "cities" to some extent. Be it Paris (France in general), there is a drive to outsource security interests due to the increased social risks of armed citizens. I don't think the cities intent is malicious control [it could be], but more self preservation due to so many people in close proximity.

The government sucks ass! They care about no one, and the fact of the matter is dangerous criminals get low sentences or released for "Good behavior" but people who hardly commit any crimes and protect themselves like that get a hard sentence slammed on them.

But 28 years, after legit defending himself? cmon... A younger guy whom could physically handle him maybe wouldn't have to shoot. We need the church /social workers dispatched around these cities to provide emotional support and help to whomever is ill. to a degree they have that, but not enough.

It seems out of kilter. It's amazing how such state has strict gun laws... when they were a primary state involved in civil war fighting the south. Big cities think different than the country side.
Granted, we don't want arsenals all over NYC, some punishment in order. but gotta respect the issue he faces... he became afraid of the legitimate threat around him. Cannot impede upon his rights and that is what their laws are doing.
There's got to be some sanity here..., hopefully they take the handcuffs off, he gets some help, and they make a rational decision.
