Apparently he brings her up and talks about her to his friends and he has said whilst he’s was still dating me that she’s perfect etc etc

Talk to him about how it bothers you.

He might see that you're hurt and say that he'll try working more intentionally to get over her--that's good.

Or he might get defensive and say it's not a problem.

If he says that it's not a problem and that your reaction is unjustified, it's up to you to decide if you're okay with the relationship continuing as it has been. If not, I'm sorry to say that dumping him is the only surefire way to address it.

It's a hard conversation to initiate, but you're going to have to force it to happen, because without his intentional effort to get over his ex, it's doubtful that he will be fully present with you.

It's hard to find a girl I'm happy with. I fell hard for a girl with a really goofy personality and those types are like needles in a haystack. I've always had a weakness for those. All the other girls bore the shit out of me.

Real truth- you can't.. He shouldn't get into a relationship until he's emotionally available. And if he's still bringing her up all the time, or comparing you and other women to her, he's not there... You deserve someone that thinks  You're  the best thing to happen to them, not their  ex...
