I can't tell, do I have aspergers or am I just too classy for the hoodrats I work with at my retail job?

Well when i was 25, i thought kind of similar to you. Long story short, i started my own company and it turned out to be a good thing after all.
What i have lost on the way is a potential partner for life: instead of just living my life i worked on the company's success and my personal abilities.
What i have won is a nice amount of income per month.
What i have lost is the chance to be a young dad. Even if signs are good right now and i get kids in the next 2-3 years, i am in the age of a grandpa already.
In the end, if i could re-do my life, i'd choose the hoodrat way because i'd probably gain more real life from it.

OK so honestly thats all i could write without further details about your question. Do you want to elaborate on your ask a little bit? It kind of sounds like you are unhappy about the "social level" of your co-workers... is that the case?

I have started to be able to understand where they are coming from and not be offended by their crass ways of befriending me. Some things are more of a moral issue I suppose like how many are gossips and always whinging about having too much work to do and they way they will talk about fornication shamelessly. The class element perhaps overlaps with those issues when you consider, as the British do, class as transcending wealth. I find it classless how the hoodrats will bond over insulting each other or doing things repeatedly to annoy each other even after being asked to stop. It took me a while to realize they were not actually trying to outright bully but that hoodrats actually bond this way. I still do not rrally desire to participate in taking jabs. But now I at least don't freeze up and hate people who do so to me. I now see they are just trying to get along with me because I am their coworker.

I might add ai possibly have aspergers so maybe that exacerbates my classiness because boundaries, ettiquite and physical space barriers become naturally more important. Being around hoodrats, who don't really often value manners and the finer details of ettiquite and cordiality as I for some reason do (perhaps its due to my natural disposition as well because my parents were, though not poor when they raised me, quite brutish in some ways despite acting classy in public... 'can't take the trailer park out of the person' comes to mind) has forced me (thankfully) to be more understanding of people who do not live up to my standards

OK thanks that gives some more insights but honestly you did a great job summarizing all of that in the original questions title:)

What you describe sounds just like normal, be it the way how your parents raised you and the consecutive way that you look at the world and all the informations you are flooded with in daily life.

So, i already said that i kind of felt like you when i was in your age. Looking at this from my current perspective, it was a very selfish state of mind. In the end i currently come to the conclusion that all kind of people on this world, they ARE this world. I cannot ignore that there are "simple minds" or even judge them to be the "lesser people" (yeah, i really judged the people you describe as lesser people" in the past). My conclusion after all was that any human on this world is a valid human and i am just one of them.

Anyway, what you say sounds like you must change your job into on where the surrounding kind of fits your state of mind.

I try to change my job lol but I am poor and the higher positions won't even give me an interview. Maybe the market is saturated who knows. I have an education

I am curious what you mean by saying you would be happier if you were a hoodrat and not making money. I have the same aspirations of having a family. For me money is not important. Class transcends wealth but it seems like a higher financial class would suit (people with) our personalities better.

Talking from my perspective only: Of course higher financial class (compared to you can barely pay your rent) suits the person i really am better than the opposite. But as i am who i am, i would not have needed to invest the best part of my life into carrier. My guess is that if i kept working in lower positions for a little longer, i'd still have been promoted to (financially) better positions. It would have just taken some years longer.

So after all, i guess i didn't really mean to say i'd like to be a hoodrat NOW (its also maybe the wrong word). Instead i guess i just wanted to say that i shouldn't have spent all the time to speed up the progress. One thing that was very important for me was to move away forever from my village and move to town, definitely the most important step in my life. It brought me near to well educated guys and i had a chance to work in companies where the general base income level is higher which also made me happy because i didn't have to deal with lowest level guys which i was raised with.
