Science says yes. But they forgot to factor in chefs. We multi task all the time. Lol

Not all, but most.
Men instead have the opposite ability: to focus all of our thoughts and energies into a SINGLE difficult and complex problem, to the exclusion of all else. This allows us to solve very difficult problems, design complex solutions, and so forth. But not only does it mean that we don't multitask well, it also means that it's INCREDIBLY annoying and frustrating for us to have our concentration broken, or to be interrupted when we're working.
For the most part, we can't hold a conversation where we have to "think" or make decisions of any complexity and still do whatever work we were doing - we have to stop what we were doing, mentally "pack that problem all back up in a box and put the box away", and then have the conversation. And once the conversation is over, we pack all of THAT up and put THAT way, and re-open the first task, unpack it all, re-arrange it again, and then figure out where we were so that we can start working on it again. And if we get interrupted AGAIN, we quickly get VERY frustrated, because we're getting nothing done and we're spending all this time mentally packing and unpacking things, because our brains can only work on one thing at a time.
This single-tasking-to-the-exclusion-of-all-else is what allows us to fight in combat, or hunt a dangerous animal, or work in a mine or build a skyscraper or work on a bridge hundreds of feet up. We super-adapted to the kinds of work that we have to do most often, but that came at the expense of being able to multitask well.
And you'll notice that, generally, the men who DO multitask well tend to be more feminine, while "manly men" are far more likely to be the "highly-focused single-taskers." I'm sure there are a few exceptions - there always are - but if you pay attention you'll see that this is mostly the case.No. I just think the way men and women prioritize things is different. In general (so not all!!! <- this is for the retards reading this) men want to rank tasks and then put 100% on the top priority, then tend to minimize things like paperwork and maximize things with specific results ie the tire is changed but i didn't complete the invoice. Where women tend to want to want to dot the i's and have all the paperwork done and neat and ready the invoice is filed the data is entered into the system the documents are organized alphabetically for all the work orders for the week... so it seems as if they did 20 different things yet they often don't achieve the same result on the task that is the actual thing. Often they prioritize customer experience over financial results. So maybe they had the paper for the customer but didn't sell the highest margin product for the company.
These results can be seen over and over where women tend to prefer jobs like HR where they can multi task tons of problems that need solving that involve minimum tangible results. Where men will say who cares how many HR complaints we got because we finished the project in half the time and 30% under budget who cares about the paperwork and intangible issues because the whole point is completing the project to make the most profit. Are all cars fast? To specifically say all men... what could you not use google to conjunct your words so the information relayed didn't appear biased?
Oh, you didn't cuz you can't multitask..
Is that fair of me to assume?
Or
Is that true?
One question illicits an open perspective the other doesn't.
I was a cop amongst other hats.. but ever been on a high speed chase at 100mph while changing your pitch on your sirens, watching for pedestrians, people and animals all while calling out any change of direction, speed, while on the radio calling all that out while still having to update traffic, weather conditions, vehicle description, occupants... how many, clothing, make female, what they are actively doing..
Oh there's more but I think you get it... not all men are bad at multi-tasking.
Just like not all females are biased.Fighter pilots, airline pilots, formula 1 drivers,
imagine how much a fighter or attack aircraft pilot does when on tasking.
saying that multitasking does have huge weaknesses.
try running and aircraft line squadron, 10 aircraft to get serviced, only x number people to do the work and x amount of hours to do them.
Complex Ops work is a huge multitasking nightmare.
Lots of guys multitask, however only those who have done it as part of critical work really understand it.
The modern combat soldier also needs the ability to multi task, for example a Forward Air Traffic controller, needs to interact with his squad mates, the air group commander, the air asset assigned and anyone doing target designation, all the while maybe avoiding in coming fire and returning fire.I can answer for myself, but not all men. I myself do one thing at a time. I'm a programmer and before that I was a technician.. and before that I was a plumber. SO since I was 14 , I had to be extremely focused on the task at hand, because all my tasks take a lot of effort when it comes to problem solving. or rather not so much effort after being trained for over 13 years in the art of Focused. I don't play well when im distracted.. but if something becomes of greater value to me in the time being, then yes i stop what im doing and focus on that.
Certainly not all men, my husband can at times be a damn sight better than I am. 😦
Everyone is different.
When I was a hydro operator my control panel had 77 buttons and switches. To do a hydro test on a steel pipe I had to use 48 buttons at minimal for each test. The other buttons and switches were for specific maintenance things to open. During each test, the station before me was sending me steel pipe that I had to catch with a switch and time it just right. You'd have to see the gigantic Hydro machine that I was running, but I think you can imagine just how much was going on when I was running it. Also I had a radio mounted on the control panel listening to my whole crew and had to pay attention if they needed me for something.I believe that both men and women are able to multi task. I for one had a job where I had to multi task on a daily bases. I was in charge of 32 apartment complexes in the southern half of the state of Louisiana. I helped with budgets, maintenance, both state and federal reviews of the properties, approving certain types of work being done and that was just on good days... lol During hurricanes or fires I also had to deal with insurance companies and repairs of property. It was nothing to be at one site and on the phone with three or four other sites dealing with issues.
I enjoyed the work and the challenge.Yes, in general. Women perceive time differently. Men men perceive it in a more linear way. I think that this is the key difference and the reason why women prefer more to multitask, but I think that no one is better at multitasking compared to āsingle-taskingā.
Men donāt respond well when you tell them something when heās focused on something else.
This is all in general of course. I am very bad at multitasking. But iām good at switching attention between tasks quickly. Not all men, but it does seem that, statistically, women are better at multitasking than men are.
A Mythbusters episode several years ago investigated this. They put several men and women through a series of tasks, some of which could be done at the same time, and measure how long it took each to complete all the tasks. Women won, on average completing all tasks quicker than men.I have always noticed that women seem to be better at multi tasking than us guys. Not saying us guys are "bad" at it, but women seem to be better. Back at my old job I would get pretty frustrated when there was a lot of multi tasking going on. Like, how many things do I have to have going on at once?
First of all, humans cannot "multi-task" per se: what they do is "rotate-task".
The efficiency of that has a lot to do with the speed at which people can shift their focus from task to task. Since women's brains are wired differently (see Mark Gungor, Tale of Two Brains), they are constantly "connected" to more things than a man's brain. While woman have an easier time shifting from task to task, the men are better able to focus on individual tasks. The human mind is NOT able to do more than one thing at a time. When I am working I do tend to keep many irons in the fire, but I also know to take them out one at a time because it's easy to get burned. I once made a $25,000 mistake on a bid for a contract because I was not paying close enough attention. Thankfully I did not win that job.
Errr just whilst I answer this question let me finish putting up this shelf and at the same time I'm just going to take the bins out whilst simultaneously feeding the dog... I mean the truth is I'm lying on my sofa whilst answering this question but technically I think I'm capable of doing all those things lol
BULLSHIT!! I'm a drummer and have quite often been called an octopus because I do so many things at the same time! Here at home, I'll be washing clothes in the basement, cooking something in the kitchen and up here reading and listening to music all at the same time.
Considering that I'm typing this while answering a phone call and keeping an eye on a timer to warm a slice of bread on which I'll have to spread Nutella, all the while I'm watching videos on YouTube, I'd say I'm not too bad at multitasking.
Yes but here's the thing we can do one task at a time flawlessly if you want us to perform multiple tasks at once it just slows everything down. So don't look at men being not able to multitask as a problem use the fact that men can one task at a time excellently and officially to your advantage
I do not consider myself good at multi tasking but i can do it 😌
I surely never forget anything and i'm well organized and does my duties in a professional way but i need to focus on each task alone...
You girls can multi task in an excellent way cause your brains are wired for multi tasking...
Now you can laugh OWL BIRDEE 🦉No, I'm talking to a guy who has this hard IT job where he has to multitask to do his job. I think it depends on the guy but guys can be really good multitaskers.

there's a lot of helicopter pilots out there that are men... not only is a multitask skill but also quite a complex one when you add combat situations to it
