Should I drop him?

So apparently I didn’t know I went too far with a joke that accidentally hurt my guy friend and it had to take one of his friends to tell me everything because I was wondering why he was acting distant suddenly.

I appreciate his friend telling me because I had no idea, but when I approached him to apologize the next day, he basically dismissed it and said he wasn’t offended by anything and didn’t understand why I was apologizing. It’s like he didn’t want me to know he’s upset.

But this is something that’s been annoying me when it comes to some guys. I can’t read minds, I don't know what he’s feeling if he’s not telling me anything but instead run and tell his buddies while leaving me in the dark. I believe I need to know as well. But if it’s such a problem for him to tell me anything that went wrong then he doesn’t need female friends or a girlfriend.

And yet his “friends” dog him around and he lets them but gets mad at me for being a goofy person. It’s bs and I kinda wanna drop him as a friend for not communicating and then lying about how he actually felt.
Should I drop him?
