Why do guys get mad when people say that they should provide for their woman, grow up, then say the same thing to their daughters later?

I can’t entirely disagree with this, because I personally know men who instill this ideology in their daughters that men should be the providers while in a relationship. To be fair, I think there’s a boundary line within this though that needs to be considered as our society evolves. More and more men are less traditional these days, and more in the frame of mind that things should be 50/50 (which I can agree with).

Their women? Girlfriends or Wives? To me, guys should fully provide for their wives and not or partially for their girlfriends. Fully providing for a girlfriend is like sowing seed for others to reap. She gonna get “cleaned up” and step on you like a piece of shit.

Me personally i get irritated when this is said because of feminism. Why should i provide for someone who claims to be my equal?

And 2nd. I did the whole providing thing with my ex when she was unemployed and i was punished for it.

You are letting the second statement cloud your first.

Feminism believes in equality, not that we are clones of one another. Yes, she could get a job but she could also stay home and care for the house. Equality says you should have the same options available to you. It's saying that a specific duty isn't assigned to you just because of how you were born.

If you have a partner, you should provide in whichever way works best for you as a couple. It may or may not be financially equal but thats OK too as long as one isn't taking advantage of the other.

She gave me a lecture on how men and women do all tasks because"its the current year" and then proceeded to tell me what my job as a man in the relationship is.

I was implying she was, but let me modify that slightly because I assumed she wasn't working.

Also, even if she wasn't, the idea that food isn't ready the minute you come home is a kinda outdated anyway. I get you wanting her to cook it if she doesn't work, but let's take a step back on the 1950s mindset here. You can wait 30 minutes or so.

And i never demanded or expected food on the table the moment i walked in. It could've been 2 hours later. But it never was. That the issue.

And speaking of taking a step back from the 1950s mindset. That's why i brought up feminism. Because it was her that said that men and women do all tasks regardless of what traditional gender roles imposed on us and then gave me the "thats what men used to do" spiel, devaluing my effort and insulting me as a man.

I don't have a problem with not acting according to our traditional roles, but i won't tolerate the hypocrisy of it

Feminism isn't to have someone get to sit on their ass and not contribute to a household in some way. It's so that she has a choice whether she wants to work or stay home and care for the house without being pushed into one or the other based on her gender. It would apply to you being able to make that choice too.

I think you may be misunderstanding. It sounds like she’s asking why guys get mad at women who say they should be provided for by their partners, and yet those same men will teach their daughters to have that exact standard.

Personally I didn’t get the impression that she was placing blame, and was more-so asking why this sort of man will condemn a woman for wanting a provider, yet teach their daughters to seek this. Would it be more productive to teach their daughters not to have this expectation of men in the first place?
