Why would a guy purposefully try not to touch you?

I have a gut feeling that he's attracted to me, there's all the signs, but the thing is he shouldn't be attracted to me (in this situation he's not allowed to).

He'll purposefully try not to touch me/make contact physically. Like one time he made a comment about trying not to touch me.

Why?

I quit touching my ex wife because she cheated during the engagement. She put multiple 2 hour phone calls to her college ex on our phone bill. Then she had a fight with me and went out and picked up another guy at a coffee shop and started having lunch with him at her work. I'm like , whoa, if you get preggers we are gonna be 110% sure that it's not mine. Good Luck
