He's interested in someone else now or desired something more than a staring contest.

My guess is he's shy maybe? Or only looks when you're not looking?

He’s complimented me twice and nothing really came of it. I don’t think he thinks I’m interested.

But now he looks completely uninterested in even looking at me which is sad
