Recently I caught the guy I’m supposed to be working on a relationship sitting in my bed asking one of his friends to text females for him on Instagram he told me he was just being sarcastic and he wasn’t looking for anyone else before all of this happened he told me he loved me and really wanted our relationship to work out

Because that's what you want to hear and men will lie and tell women they love them for sex. It's common in your age bracket. Young men in theor late teens and early twenties are in their biological prime. Their bodies are pushing them to pollinate. They are desperately horny. He may love you but he is a slave to his sperm right now. Anyway this is the type of crap guys do.
