Not exactly sure of your situation but if you're feeling that way you need to either call him out on it politely (and respond accordingly) or evaluate why you care what he thinks about you. Because from the limited knowledge you've given me, he sounds a bit hypocritical. He is not holding onto you for a rainy day if he and his girlfriend split. You are allowed to express interest in whoever you want, platonic or otherwise. He has no right to make you feel belittled for it unless he believes he is actually saving you from men he does not trust (a murderer for example). What reason does he have to be jealous when he has something already? I wouldn't want to assume you're being controlled in some mild manner, of course. Maybe it's not that deep. But you are allowed to seek partners as long as you harm no one in the process, you know?

Because in his mind you belong to him. Even if you two never put a label on what you have. Especially if you’re messing w him on the side known f he has a girl already. He gets mad, maybe jealous that you could potentially be sleeping w someone else. It’s like a child who has one main toy, but also has another toy that he doesn’t want anyone else playing w.

It's pretty easy to just save that talk for your girlfriends isn't? There's two reasons guys don't want to hear it. 1) it's awkward and we don't have anything to add or give advice on, nor do we want to. 2) in most cases she is mentioning it to make the friend jealous.
