Why would a guy start to show interest over two years after knowing me?

I’ve pretty well looked the same. We’ve always gotten along and been friends since we knew each other ( we work together) but he never flirted or complimented my appearance, or was touchy in any kind of way until recently. He’s had a girlfriend most of the time I’ve known him, but like I said he was never inappropriate so I didn’t think it was a big deal. He’s completely changed how he acts around me. He treats me more like a girlfriend or potential girlfriend, despite having one. I don’t understand
