Why would a guy suddenly show interest after I show interest in another guy?

I see this guy at work all the time for a year. He’s never paid attention to me at all for like the whole year he’s worked there. No staring at me, never spoke to me, walked by never looked at me.

I developed a crush on another guy at work months ago and my crush found out about it. My crush and this guy had to work together for a couple of months and all of a sudden this guy starts paying attention to me.
He speaks to me, he stares at me, every time he walks by he looks at me.

my crush no longer works there and he still pays attention to me.

I used to work with a woman like that. She wouldn't say two words to me. The minute another woman started talking to me she try to either wedge herself into the conversation or try to get my attention in some way.
