Do you think the below two things a guy said are to some degree rude?

A guy said these two things. Are they to some degree rude or just his sense of humor? These quotes are all exactly word for word since I happen to remember them well. What do you think of these? As far as his age goes he was about 22 at the time.

I said “I wonder how it would affect someone if they grew up poor.”

He said “well it’s not your science project you have a kid and he’s born with nothing”. (He seemed kind of offended).

He was my supervisor. I was crying in the restroom, then came back and let him know. Then I began talking to a co-worker who wasn’t assigned to the windows, and to the best of my memory it was only for a few minutes.

He told me “oh I’m not going to have you not working”.

People have asked why I was offended, and for background to explain why I was offended.
I think that’s because they don’t find these rude in themselves, so they think there must be some other type of reason having to do with context that caused me to find these somewhat rude.
Maybe I’m imagining things based on these answers. I do think I have borderline disorder which can sometimes make you imagine people have bad intentions that they don’t have.

Its not very often that I do this but can you explain this in a bit more depth and supply me with the deeper detail? I don't really understand the context in which this is being said or the background to why it seems hurtful to you.

Okay, so I am going to give this my best shot here.

“I wonder how it would affect someone if they grew up poor.”

To which you said he seemed offended and thus said:

“well it’s not your science project, you have a kid, and he’s born with nothing”.

So what I get out of this from the context given is that if this person seemed offended than they must have grown up poor and took offense to your question in which they responded by saying that (and this is the meaning I gather) that you have a kid who is in fact poor so you don't really need to ask which is in a manner of speaking a bit rude. (Again, if this is the context)

“oh I’m not going to have you not working”.

This I still don't really understand the context of. Im guessing it has something to do with you crying in the bathroom an not working and he told you basically that you were not gonna be here and not work. Which again, in a manner of speaking is rude. (Again, this is my best guess given to the context)

So to answer your question I would have to say that yes to some degree it was rude, BUT, you were the one who quote unquote started it by asking that question. So in a real sense you were rude first if only by accident.

Either way my advice is to try and talk this out and come to an understanding, drama in the work place just isn't a healthy way of living.
