Does this mean my classmates like me or were they just trying to be nice?

i don’t talk in any of my classes unless i have a friend in that class or if i’m getting called for something. we had presentations on Friday and we did a spin the wheel thing to see the 5 people that would present their individual project for that day. i was the first one and i kinda said “nooo” out loud. it was clear i didn’t want to do it because i had coffee and i was already having anxiety from that drink a hour before also the fact that i physically struggle with talking/presenting. i don’t think i look shy, just irritated i don’t know. but anyway, i went up to the front of the board and every single person clapped in the class. my teacher even screamed “i love you!!” and i was a little shocked because i haven’t started anything. even this one specific guy was banging on the desk as a “louder clap” which shocked me more. but i felt a little happy when the class did that. when i was presenting, i messed up on a few words and some students helped me say it. when i was done, they clapped for me again. but every time the other people went to present their project, the class only clapped for them after not before and after. they also didn’t look like they wanted to present either so i don’t know why they didn’t get the same treatment. do you think the class likes me or was just trying to be nice?

It's because you were the first one and they wanted to make you feel comfortable. However I believe that the class might actually like you and they are also trying to be nice. You should continue to he happy about, as you was happy when you first stood in front of everyone.

what they did is normal. to support someone who needs it the most. Maybe you should also in-turn be nicer to them... say hi, gd morning, or can i borrow your book. Just make conversation. Start with little simple things. Don’t go on the first encounter and ask to discuss a novel with someone you’ve never talked to before

You were brave to be the first one. I imagine you did a good job and everyone in the class was supportive, including the teacher. You did good. And I think they all like you too.
