I went to a salsa club & I was shy and held back going on the dance floor. A guy walked up to me & said "don't be so proud" now what did that mean?

So there was a section where people either stood and watched and drank etc and chatted with friends thats where I was. This particular guy was going around asking some females to dance but he didn't ask me and just said that?

What did he mean?

Your shyness probably came off as you were “too good” like don’t be so proud that you’re a great dancer something around that is what I got from him.
