What does it mean when a guy tells you this at a party?

I was at a party recently and there was this guy who stuck by my side a lot. He was really nice. He then told me he found me cute. At one point, when we were talking about something I was wearing, he said, "It's okay, you're pretty," but it kind of felt like he meant "just average." Also, this guy is a player. When I showed him I wasn’t open to anything, he moved on to another girl. I am a socially closed person and have trouble talking to people. He had to spend a lot of time with me, which is why I’m wondering: was I really pretty to him? Or did he just say whatever he thought would work to get something with me? Telling me I’m "cute" or that "it’s okay, you’re pretty" feels like he was saying I’m average. Also, we are all around 19 years old.

Those are just standard pick up lines and nothing more. Seeing that you did not bite the bait, he moved to his next victim that will fall for his stupid lines.

Basically, that is the line he will tell anyone that he finds attractive enough to get into the pants. It is a superficial way of addressing his victims but has no deep meaning to him.

If he was really interested in you from a physical point of view, then he would have use other terms than "cute" or "pretty".

Don't get me wrong, to me those 2 words have a more intimate meaning in my opinion.

let me tell you, if you were approached by any guy, you are pretty. Also players surely dont approach girls they dont find attractive. But if you show insecurity, players might think you're esy game and approach you for that reason

I don’t know if she’s hotter than me but he didn’t take his time with her and he moved on to another, and another, and another. I think I just showed insecurity and that’s why he took his time
