Well in the world of #metro, wild sexual harrasment claims and false accusations, no smart guys are gonna have very sexy nicknames. I'm not being taken to court for calling a girl I like but don't know well cause we just met because I called her a flirty nickname like "sweetcheeks" or even just "cutie".

If he's making nicknames for you it probably means he likes you, he's noticing little traits of yours, so he's paying attention to you.

For teens I'd say no, not necessarily. For adults I'd say yes its mostly platonic.

I rarely use nicknames, except on siblings and nephews /nieces. Girls usually let me get away with it more.

For nephews and nieces, especially if they're toddlers:

"Squeakers" = needs /likes bear hugs, like a rubber duck toy

    "Little Tickles" = self-explanatory

"Shrimp Imp" = the smallest one

"Boo" = resembles the girl from Monsters Inc.

"Little Fish" = loves to swim

"Bad / dirty duck" = can't stay out of trouble, or can't stop talking nonsense. Usually used on boys.

"[Name or spirit animal here]-meister" = one who epitomizes the theme

Examples: "Jord-meister," or if the girl is associated with frogs, "Ran-meister" (rana, Lat. for frog)

"L'Obez" = le monkey (mixing French and Russian). Used for girls that climb everything

"Spider-Squirt" = used on girls who love finding ways to climb walls

"Mischief" = small boys that are destructive /don't play well with others

    "Wildman" = next-level mischief

"Zzzzt-meister" = ticklish one. Think getting zapped by lightning.

"She needs squishin', ticklin', a boop and, the Daily Spin..." = The niece needs a bear hug, tickle, boop, and to be spun around. Lyrics modified from "Clumsy" by Black-Eyed Peas

For girlfriends, I rarely bother with anything more creative than "sweetie" or "dear."

For platonic gal pals, I rarely do more than shorten their names a bit.

Mine always were. As long as she was cool with it, then yeah, 100% platonic. Just recently had a woman in our group that wanted to be the voice of our group. She was good at speaking, so after a while, I decided to nickname her 'Madame Speaker'. She thought it was funny.

The most senior personal assistant who worked with our director, both women, she still referred to herself as a secretary. So I stole a title from the Soviets and dubbed her General Secretary "name". She quite enjoyed that.

Huh, I've called a lot of people by nicknames now that I think about it. But it has always been met with a smile and/or laugh.

Usually, but not always. Usually the typical ones that everyone uses (pet names like Babe, Hon, etc) are obvious. But sometimes I can get creative with a nickname for a woman I’m interested in.

I personally like creating nicknames. I try to come up with something, and it’s almost always platonic - usually guy to guy, but sometimes I do that with girls.

I have one that SOUNDS cute - almost like a pet name for a girl (a platonic friend), but it’s meant as a kind of “brotherly love” nickname.

As far as nicknames go, I've always be platonic.

    Never sexual.

After getting a lot of good vibes together, I just start calling her by a nickname, in public or otherwise. It comes automically.

It's very personal and tailored to their personality but not at all forced upon.

    😃

Depends what kind of name. My husband calls me "viaja", mija", or "gordita" and his friends call me "guera" .. now if they called me "gringa", that's no love

Usually us Guys aren't looking for Friendship so if he is being friendly with you more than any other Guy he more than likely wants to date you.

Depends on the nickname. If it’s a pet name, or something playful, then possibly not platanic.

    I'd say 20% of times it's platonic, 80% of times it's romantic.

I'm useless with names so I just use nicknames to try and remember people.
    Very occasionally it'll be platonic.

There is only one definition of platonic, friendly, non-sexual. Educate yourself, your walking around with a laptop in your hand and using it to act dumb.
