Guy's Behavior

Do guys always sort of have a thing for their past crushes even if a lot of time has passed by?

I know this probably doesn’t only apply to guys, but I’m just asking about them as I’m a girl myself. I’ve noticed that no matter how long it’s been, guys always seem to still have some sort of interest in the girls they used to have a crush on in the past even if they’ve got a new partner, had partners in between or never even had anything with their crush before.

I finished high school 6 years ago & I have noticed that guys from my high school still follow the girls they used to have a crush on & like their photos. I personally can’t relate to that cause I get over my crushes completely with time. I would never follow them or like pictures of them that far into the future once a lot of time has passed by & I like someone else. My crushes from the past are history & they no longer mean anything to me anymore & it’s like it never happened. I am always just focused on the present & who I currently like. So I find it a bit weird to see guys still keeping some sort of interaction with their crushes from so long ago.

I remember once in high school I was talking to my friend about a guy I had a crush on & how I noticed he liked a picture of a girl from school that was an acquaintance of mine, & my friend said to me ‘well, remember he used to like her in primary school’ & I just thought to myself, ‘yeah USED to, why would he still be liking her photos now?’

So is that just how guys are? Do guys just always have a soft spot for girls they had crushes on in the past even if they have a partner? Do they continue imagining them or mentally think of them as some sort of back up for if things don’t work out with their current partners?
