Why do guys feel the compulsion to put his hand up my shirt or sleeve?

I would be watching a movie with the guy I'm seeing and you would think cuddling on the couch is enough. I'm perfectly fine with having my hand rest on his arm with out need to pull up his sleeve in search of skin. But apparently this is what his compulsion is. I was wearing a t-shirt. The lower arm isn't good enough for skin contact? It has to be the upper arm? Same with the waist. I don't feel a need to my hand up his shirt, I am perfectly fine resting my hand over his shirt. But for some reason he has to be resting on skin. Not clothing.

Is this with some guys? Most? Why does it matter? It seems like a step toward something scandolous.

I'd also like to add, what do guys get out of it? It isn't like guys get a hormonal rush just from touching skin? Or maybe they do? I get the impression it is supposed to 'lead' towards more when a guy puts his hand under clothing, though this guy hasn't been pushing boundaries. I'm also pretty good at 'redirecting' so maybe his intuition tells him 'I can only get away with ___' and doesn't go further even if he wants to.

Yes that is right. Lower arm isn't that good for contact. Yes the upper arm is best for contact on a woman. Yes women like to be touched on their waist and on the upper arm. This is true if they like the guy.

That is strange. If you are resting your hand on this chest over his shirt it should be fine but I think he just loves your soft touch and hence he wants direct contact with his skin.

I think that is true. Yes. It is true that men like to touch women on their waist, upper arm, thighs etc and especially on the bare skin of the woman. In return men also want women to touch them on their skin. This is actually true.

Well not necessarily but yes it can lead to more provided the woman also wants the same thing

Guys are weird creatures. They definitely function different from women. These were similar to my thoughts. Though my ex would always push boundaries, so when guys do this it puts me on edge. I have a guy friend who claimed to be self-controlled and the 'no-touch' sort to respect a woman's space. Though he told me on his last date he accidentally kissed the girl he was seeing. I'm starting to think guys have a difficult time resisting the compulsion for the physical as part of their make-up, and it is good that women (at least myself) find it easy to keep boundaries in place to avoid things moving faster than necessary.

Oh definitely, both genders operate differently. Each gender understand their own side best. I think what is key to a successful relationship is understanding how both genders operate and how to complement it. Biologically, we should be made up to balance out gender weakness/strengths. For example, guys who don't understand emotions, I find it super super weird!!! It makes a guy look like a robot. lol!

I get that. That's my case too, though I think guys have a lot stronger hormones that also get involved. I have a theory it isn't quite the same when I touch his arm vs him touching my arm. Guys are physical creatures. The guy I'm presently seeing, has been quite lonely.

Its a step toward groping boobs/crotch, dunno about it being "scandolous" though, its pretty normal for guys to do that with a girlfriend.
