I’m really stuck as to how my crush feels. He’s my friend, and I’m confused?

okay so i’ve been friends with him for 6 years. around a month ago i gave him a present of “open when” letters as a graduation gift. yesterday he messaged me to tell me that he opened another letter and it was so so sweet, and he had no words. he was telling me that he had a bad day and was having a headache but then he swore that his headache was gone after reading the letter. then today, i talked to one of my other friends and i told her what happened because i was happy that i made someone’s day, and then she told me that he was taken? and now i’m incredibly suspicious. my friend that told me this used to go on dates with him, she recently broke up with her boyfriend and she told me that she used to have a crush on me, so now i’m like, what? maybe i’m reaching into this but even if you DID have a girlfriend and he was taken, and you were having a bad day, surely the first person who would comfort you would be your girlfriend? not to mention that he got me THREE GIFTS for graduation as well. even if you did recently get together with your girlfriend, surely you would get your crush gifts too if you liked them? now maybe i’m just reading way too much into this but this situation just seems all too suspicious. not to mention that like he seems comfortable around me. he was telling me and a few other friends that he doesn’t like hugs, when he was telling us about how it was awkward when the year head hugged him. however a few weeks before this i asked him if he wanted a hug and he said yeah and it’s like - he seems comfortable around me. now maybe i’m just reading way too much into this but. i need advice help what do y’all think. please help oh my gosh i’m so confused?
