I have a pretty big crush on my friend, but I have no clue how he feels. How can I just move on?

My friend is much older then me, but we clicked really well right off the bat.
He sadly lost his spouse over fifteen years ago, so he never talks about being with anyone. Understandable, but everyone knew he had a pretty large crush on a different women in out village, (however she is now with someone else and has a child)
We talk quite a lot, in person. Almost every week we'd hang out at his place or go out to eat. I took us on a trip up north, and we had a great time. He had a business call so I tried to be quite, after the call he joked I should have made noise to throw off everyone.
We talked about very personal details, often romantic and sometimes sexual, but he's never tried to make a move. He brought up the fact when he saw his friend, that his friend told him 'I saw your girlfriend yesterday!'
Then around March of last year we started hanging out less and less, he never was a good texter, sometimes he wouldn't reply for a few days and then we'd text a few times. Due to my age I text a lot, and due to his age, that's not something he enjoys. Sometimes I feel I text far too much. (one or two texts a day if no reply- I know, Yikes!)
He's a very busy guy, and told me if he'd been 30 years younger he'd chase after me. But, we have a great time together in person, but we don't hang out nearly as much as we use to.
I guess it does bother me, that I Really like him and I feel I annoy him. Any way I can move on with my life?

It’s hard to really lose feelings for someone, but you have to work hard on just focusing on other things and valuing the friendship that you already have. Think of how it could possibly ruin your friendship if you two get into a relationship or do anything of that nature. You wouldn’t want to lose your friend because of that.

I'd like to be friends, it just I wish I could see him as just a friend and not someone I want to be with.
That's the issue, I don't want to scare him off

I understand completely. It is tough when you have strong feelings for someone. Really, only you can work on that. Maybe spend a little less time together. It doesn't have to be drastic.

Work in some other things as well as other friends to space out the time.

You either tell him the truth or just MoveOn completely but then you’re gonna have to tell him why you’re breaking up the friendship so just tell him the truth. how old is he?
