Do people really become sincere when drank?

Recently I got to see a bunch of my friends quite um... drank. Most of them start talking about their deep feelings and problems they usually don't like to discuss. There was a boy at my prom who wanted to dance with me like 4 or 5 times lol. And we hardly ever talked when we were at school. He asked me out that night and of course I knew he was drank.
Once my crush and I were at a night bar and he took my glasses off my head and said that he takes them with him so to be sure we're going to meet again.
My question is: Do you think people say things that they really mean when drank but are afraid to tell you when in a sober state?

In wine truth and people are less guarded when drunk so more likely to be truthful. But that can be being truthful about drunken thoughts which evaporate with sobriety.

There was a reason why men were given a tot of rum before a battle and it is genuinely true it makes people braver (or less frighten of possible consequences).

Take the glasses guy. Stupid idea to take your glasses cause you might be almost blind without them. Also stupid as you were with him at a bar so you are likely to meet again if he just asks. The stupid thoughts re glasses is quite probably motivated by a desire to meet with you again

So I think the 50-50 vote reflects the core motivation is true but everything after that is sketchy.

Yeah, it was sunglasses though that I've just forgotten over my head and it was obvious that I don't need them in the middle of the night

Yes. I’ve had friends blurt out crazy details about their life while drunk lol
Or another substance that I found people are very emotional on is shrooms. My friends and I all did shrooms together once and we all had a very deep emotional conversation where we were all crying.
