Do you hate it when you open a door for someone and they don’t say thank you?

I was walking to a sandwich place for my lunch break and there was two girls behind me so I opened the door for them and they walked in without even saying thank you or looking at me.
I know you might be thinking that I am just whining or something but I not only opened the door for them but also gave them my place in line in front of me because if I just walked in and not opened it for them, they would’ve been behind me. I don't know. Am I overreacting? Should I still be a gentleman?

I ALWAYS use my manners when a man goes out of his way to hold the door for me.

Politely saying "thank you" literally takes no effort at all.

I don't hate it, I don't open a door to be thanked I would only do it if I wanted to or found it appropriate meaning I don't interact with randos for the expectation of being thanked or reciprocated and I find the fulfillment before the end of the gesture itself.
When I find appreciation or sweet reciprocation that's special! And those typically are they people I would keep around, on the other side I hate it when someone is taking more seats than they need in public transportation or other service places I find it quite disrespectful.

Aye man. You did a good thing. Don’t be overly concerned if you are left without gratitude. Yeah it sucks, but in todays world it’s really common (unfortunately). And it even stings a little more when the people not thanking you are the opposite sex. It’s rude, but don’t think about it too much. Just keep being the gentleman you are. There are still people who appreciate it.

This happens over and over to me. I can’t stand when people are around me when I try to enter a place.

there's always some idiot trying to open the door for me.. and I’m almost always in a rush that I don’t even have the breath or time to say “THANKYOU”.
If I say it, it’s in a rushed and annoyed manner. I didn’t ask for that, and or wanted you to be there.

As a girl it happens too sometimes (the door thing) with "karen" looking women. It's not worth it to overthink about it and feel bad, you're being nice and that's what matters, and believe me, there's people watching, the one's who act wrong are the one's who look bad, not you. Don't stop being nice.

I think if you are going to do kind things you should do them for you and not for anything in return. If you are kidney because that's the type of man you want to be then go for it but if not then don't. It's normal to be thrown off by someone who is disconnected its bizarre and a cousin to being crazy. Thanknyou for doing that for them by the way 😋

I would just take a mental note of which individuals are ungrateful.
Next time I see those two coming I would not only leave the door close behind me, but I might even turn the little knob and lock it as well. Oops.

Just thank yourself for them and hold an extended conversation with yourself making a mockery of them as they walk away. Or if it is an old person just say “I know you’re old enough to know how to act in public and I know your generation was raised to act right.” Who cares what they say in response if anything at all.

There are girls who are either oblivious or feel entitled. They won't disappear. But there are many girls who appreciate such gestures. Don't let the bad ones and their attitudes guide your actions.

I find that rude too. I've held a door for old people or girls with kids and gotten nothing. I just say "you're welcome!" as loud as i can and go on.

I always open the door for the person entering or leaving a building. Most people say thank you. I say you're welcome loudly for the ones that don't. Once I guided them back in and closed the door on them because they were really rude

This happened to me before with a group of girls in high school. They didn’t even look at me or acknowledge me or nod their heads or anything. They just blew right by me and kept talking to eachother. Like I was totally invisible
