Why would my ex boyfriend want to take me to prom instead of his new girlfriend?

by the way we never did anything sexual before and I ended it with him but he keeps bothering me still. He had stop bothering me for a while but it still continues at times. Meaning he would purposely do stuff I said I didn’t like when we were together right infront of me ;trying to make sure I’m watching.
