Guy's Behavior

How can this be?

There's a guy we're messaging. We had a misunderstanding a few weeks ago. I texted him to stop talking for a while. He said, offended, "Okay, I'll make it easier for you." I didn't understand and I asked him "How" . He didn't reply. But he hasn't seen the message since. That's what the system indicates. A few days later he started writing to me again, but this message is still as delivered. He saw the messages before and after. How can this be?
